A unregistered Uber driver who picked up a vomiting nurse on the street, took her back to his home and raped her while she was unconscious will be deported back to India.

Manpreet Singh, 28, was driving through Melbourne's inner-city when he came across the intoxicated woman on Church Street about 2am late last year.

The woman was able to break free from Singh but he continued to follow her after he returned to his vehicle.

The next thing the woman remembers was waking up at around 5am to Singh raping her in his Mulgrave home - over an hours drive away from where he had picked her up.

She claimed she had 'no recollection' of how she got there.

The woman was able to escape and alerted police.

Singh, who was driving with Uber through another person's registration at the time of the attack, was arrested the next day.

The man, who was on a bridging visa from India, appeared at County Count on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to rape.

The court was told by Prosecutor Hilary Bonney said the victim was 'intoxicated' and in a 'highly distressed state' when the accused drove her to his house to rape her.

An expert had revealed that the woman had a blood-alcohol reading of around 0.20.

'[The victim] was coming in and out of consciousness and had no recollection [of how she got to Singh's home],' Ms Bonney said.

In her victim impact statement, the woman tearily spoke of her depression and increased anxiety she has suffered since the attack.

'I don't feel safe in the world like I used to,' she said.

'[It's] the most traumatic event in my life.'

She also revealed the attack has affected her memory, ability to focus, and ruined her six-year relationship and forced her to leave her job.

Singh was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on September 11, he will be deported back to India immediately following his sentence.
