Ludhiana: IMA has deferred its call for withdrawal of services for the moment. It had decided to give a nationwide call on Thursday. The decision for the protest by the association was primarily to lodge their protest against the implementation of section 32, 50 and 51 which ‘legitimize quackery’. The IMA also pointed out on capping of fee in undergraduate and post graduate medical education and the uncertainty of the career of medical students. It took note of the deteriorating quality of medical education affecting the careers of the future practitioners. In an official communication, IMA said it supported the demands of the medical students and resident doctors and will continue to add momentum to the movement till justice was rendered. IMA also appeals to the President of India to withhold assent until the dangers to the Health of the nation accruing from several sections are adequately addressed. IMA also has immense faith in judiciary in correcting the aberrations in this black law. The members said that the struggle of IMA against the deleterious clauses of NMC Bill 2019 will continue till the medical education and the health of the nation are out of such danger..
A delegation of IMA led by its president, Dr Santanu Sen along and other senior leaders, medical student representatives and junior doctors met with Union minister for health and family welfare Harsh Vardhan to raise their concerns.
