A boy has been rushed to hospital with a leg injury after he was hit by a vehicle on the Gold Coast, near an early learning centre.

Paramedics were called to the corner of Swan and Yawalpah roads in Pimpama about 3.30pm on Thursday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the child had a limb injury and scrapes to his head, chest and abdomen but he remained in a stable condition.

He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a critical care paramedic on board.

A police spokeswoman said officers were on scene diverting westbound traffic towards Gawthern Drive.
