PATNA: The
Patna Medical College and Hospital (
PMCH) will now depute
women security guards in addition to their male counterparts in different wards for maintaining discipline.
Hospital superintendent Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad told this newspaper on Tuesday that a tender for hiring women
security guards had been floated.
“There are as many as 200 private security guards posted at the PMCH. However, many a time, it is difficult for them to handle women attendants, who create nuisance in some departments,” Dr Rajiv said, adding women security guards would keep a close watch on unwanted elements.
Besides, 50 more CCTV cameras will be installed in outpatient (OPD) clinics of medicine, surgery, pathology, skin and paediatric departments of the hospital. There are already 300 CCTV cams on the PMCH premises.
Dr Rajiv said, “The practice of weekly review of patients’ admission, recovery and death, which is being followed by the paediatric department, will now be introduced in all 27 departments of the hospital.”
Thalassemia care centre: According to paediatric department head Dr A K Jaisawal, a thalassemia care centre for the treatment of children will soon be launched at the PMCH.
“There will be a day care unit for transfusion of blood,” he said.
Thalassemia is a disorder characterized by less haemoglobin and fewer red blood cells in the body.
