A leading cosmetic surgeon has revealed the bad habits that are making your boobs saggy - and warned that sleeping on your front could have 'disastrous consequences'.
Dr Dirk Kremer, of Harley Street Aesthetics, has unveiled some other unlikely bad habits that could be adding years to your breasts – and the handy hacks to keep them perkier for longer.
He suggested that a major cause of sagginess is age, saying: 'As we get older, our skin becomes less elastic and thins, so gravity has an easier time pulling us down. That stretching process tends to accelerate as we get older.'
But the Harley Street based physician also warned against every day bad habits that could be making your boobs saggy, including sleeping on your front, crash dieting and not wearing sunscreen.

Dr Dirk Kremer shared the bad habits that could be making your boobs saggy, and exalted the importance of wearing a bra
Bad habit 1: Not wearing sunscreen
Not wearing sunscreen leaves the delicate breast tissue and decolletage exposed to harmful UV and HEV rays.
'Not only does this leave you at risk of sunburn and skin cancer, but it can also lead to premature wrinkles around the breast area and the sun damage also slows down the rate of skin cell renewal, causing a build up of old dead skin cells,' Dr Kremer said.
'It can also destroy the collagen and elastin in your skin. Collagen is a protein that retains the firmness hence, if this is reduced, your boobs can become saggier as the skin loses elasticity.'
Bad habit 2: Crash dieting

Dr Kremer also warned that dieting could leave breasts sagging as they sent your body into starvation mode, burning lean tissue and causing loss of muscle and tissue
If you think losing weight will make your breasts look perkier you can think again.
Dr Kremer explains why: 'Crash diets often lead to a deprivation of many key vitamins and minerals to your body, which in turn impact the look and feel of your skin.
'But they can also send your body into starvation mode, and instead of burning fat it actually signals to your body to store up its fat reserves and to burn lean tissue (because this burns much quicker and easier than fat).
'The impact of this can cause a loss of muscle as well as the tissues around them, which happens so quickly that your skin doesn’t have enough time to adjust, and the result is sagging skin.'
Bad habit 3: Not wearing a bra
Dr Kremer refers to a study published by French researchers on this topic which states that ‘the support of bras weakens the muscles in the chest, making the breasts droop’.
However, Dr Kremer urges you not to ditch your underwear yet, offering advice on the contrary.
He suggests that, in fact, wearing a bra can help to 'stop premature sagging of the skin and tissue around the breast area, because of the fact that they will be more supported and therefore less likely to be moving around and stretching the delicate connective tissue.'
Bad habit 4: Sleeping on your front or side
According to a study, around 7 per cent of us sleep on our stomachs.
Whilst this can help to prevent snoring and sleep apnoea (in adults), Dr Kremer warns that this so-called ‘Freefall’ position can have disastrous consequences for the breasts.
Not only does logic suggest that having them pressed against a mattress for hours on end won’t help with their perkiness, Dr Kremer warns that this can increase the onset of wrinkles and that sleeping on your side is just as bad too.
He said: ‘Over time sleeping on your side causes breast ligaments to stretch.'
He suggests that if sleeping on your side can’t be avoided, to use a pillow under them for support or preferably sleep on your back.

Bad habit 5: Smoking
In addition to all the obvious health risks associated with smoking, Dr Kremer is quick to assert the effect it has on the elasticity of the skin.
'There are more than 4,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke, many of which trigger the destruction of collagen and elastin. These are the fibres that give your skin its strength and elasticity.
'Smoking or even being around people who are smoking can degrade the skin and cause premature ageing and sagging in the breast area.'
