JAIPUR/ALWAR: A
Dalit woman was gang-raped by two men in
Alwar district when she went to relieve herself in the fields on August 4. The 22-year-old woman claimed that the two accused sprang up suddenly in the fields, threw her on the ground and took turns to rape her.
They threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to anyone and had been following up with the threats for two days. The case was registered at Harsora police station.
The complaint read that on Sunday (August 4), around 8.00am, the woman went to relive herself and as soon as she sat down, the two accused grabbed her from behind. Following this, they threw her on the ground and gagged her mouth as well as held her down forcibly. According to the complainant, she kept trying to free herself but the two accused took turns to rape her. Finally, when she managed to push them, she yelled for help and her father-in-law came to her rescue. While fleeing, the two accused also threatened to harm her and her family if she reported the matter. They also made derogatory remarks against her caste, she claimed.
She also alleged that, since the day of the rape, the accused have been trying to force her to reach a compromise. A case was lodged under IPC sections 376 D (gang-rape), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), as well as under the SC/ST Act.
Circle officer, Behror police district, Ramjilal Choudhary investigating the case, said, “The case was registered and the medical examination of the complainant done. Now, we are looking for the accused.”
The latest shocker from
Alwar comes as a chilling reminder of the rapes which were reported from the district in the last few months. The 19-year-old Dalit woman who was raped in Alwar’s Thanagazi on April 26 was the one which had sent shock waves across the country, due to which the police and state government had faced severe backlash, but, following that, cases of gang-rape of minors have also been reported from the district.
