Confusion prevails for an hour over jurisdiction

In broad day light, the public of V.Kota mandal headquarters were taken for a rude shock, seeing the body of a woman in flames under a road culvert bridge, a few metres away under Bethamangalam police limits in Karnataka.

According to information, some people found smoke emanating from the bushes under the culvert. Curious youth rushed there only to see a human body burning. For an hour, there was confusion, whether the crime spot would come under the jurisdiction of the V.Kota police (Chittoor district) or Bethamangalam in Karnataka. After conformation of the jurisdiction, the matter was passed on to the Karnataka police. By the time the cops arrived there, the body was charred and with much difficulty, it was identified as that of a woman.

It is a regular feature on the tri-State junction bordering Karnataka that after committing murders, the bodies would be dumped in the border villages by the perpetrators, making it difficult for the police of both States while investigating. Meanwhile, Kolar Gold Fields SP Mohammad Sujitha and senior police officials rushed to the spot and shifted the body to area hospital for autopsy. An alert was also sent to the V.Kota, Baireddipalle, Rallabuduguru and Kuppam police stations in Chittoor district whether there was any case pertaining to the missing of a woman.
