NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has ordered a probe after a blaze at a building in Zakir Nagar killed six and left many others injured, including four firemen.
Earlier, chief minister
Arvind Kejriwal visited the spot and announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh each for those injured.

Anil Baijal visited the injured at a hospital and ordered Delhi Fire Service to upgrade fire fighting equipment and use technology like
Google Maps, robotic fire fighters, smaller fire tenders, high-pressure water hoses, etc, to improve fire fighting ability in congested areas.
Kejriwal also went to the hospital. “The
fire department managed to bring the blaze under control, but the lives of six people could not be saved,” Kejriwal stated and added that the government will also ascertain the exact cause of the fire and won’t spare anyone if any lapse is found. He added that all efforts will be made to ensure there is no repeat.
The LG assured the affected families all possible help and directed south corporation and Delhi Police to take stern action against those found guilty in the planning and development of the four-storey building.
