CHENNAI: In a first since he took over the reins in 2017,
Tamil Nadu chief minister
Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday sacked information technology minister,
M Manikandan, from his cabinet.
The move comes hours after Manikandan openly criticised his colleague, animal husbandry minister, Udumalai K Radhakrishnan, who recently took over as Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation chairman. Manikandan, a doctor by profession, accused Radhakrishnan of running a private cable TV network, while he stopped the medical practice.
"
Governor of Tamil Nadu has accepted the recommendation of the chief minister to drop M Manikandan from the council of ministers. Based on the recommendation, the portfolio of IT has been reallocated to RB Udhayakumar, minister for revenue and disaster management,” a Raj Bhavan release said.
