Chain-snatching cases reported in Mysuru

The menace of chain snatching has resurfaced in Mysuru, with two women losing their gold chains to motorcycle-borne miscreants on Monday evening.

One of the victims, Manjula, 60, was walking towards her house in JSS Layout after disembarking from a bus on Monday evening when an unidentified person sneaked up from behind on a motorcycle and yanked off her gold chain weighing 35 grams. Ms. Manjula has lodged a complaint with the Udayagiri police.

In another incident, which took place around the same time, a motorcycle-borne miscreant came up from behind Umashankari, 55, who was walking on Vyragya Marg in Siddhartha Layout, snatched her gold chain and sped away. Ms. Umashankari has lodged a complaint with the Nazarbad police. Her gold chain weighed 30 grams and is worth about ₹90,000, she said.
