There was an increase of 6,39,271 tourists, which are both domestic and foreign during April-June this year as compared to the year before.
The number of domestic tourists during the second quarter of this year increased to 47,73,739 as compared to the figures of 41,49,122 during the same period a year earlier, marking a heavy 15.05 per cent growth rate.
After last year’s devastating floods, attracting 1,82,320 visitors from abroad in the second quarter of the ongoing year is a positive sign, marking a growth rate of 8.74 per cent compared to the same period in 2018.
Of the 14 districts in Kerala, Ernakulam registered the highest increase in tourists with an increase of 1.71 lakh, followed by Idukki with 1.35 lakh.
Except Kollam and Thrissur, all other districts exhibited positive growth rates in tourist arrivals.
