India VIX jumps 4.73% to 16.88

The Nifty August 2019 was at 10,863.10, a premium of 7.60 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 10,855.50 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's & options (F&O) segment was Rs 15.34 lakh crore compared with Rs 9.66 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 92.75 points or 0.85% to settle at 10,855.50.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, rose 4.73% at 16.8825.

State Bank of India (SBI), Indiabulls Housing Finance and Reliance Industries (RIL) were the top traded individual stock contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

State Bank of India (SBI) August 2019 futures were at 290.30, compared with spot closing price of 289.05. Indiabulls Housing Finance August 2019 futures were at 436.30, compared with spot closing price of 445.15. Reliance Industries (RIL) August 2019 futures were at 1,110.30 compared with spot closing price of 1,104.40.

The August 2019 F&O contracts expire on 29 August 2019.
