The Rajya Sabha passed 32 bills in the budget session that ended on Wednesday; Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu said that this session is the best in the last 17 years. ‘The Rajya Sabha set a ‘new normal’ in its ‘highly productive’ 249th session, with extended sittings and record number of bills disposed,’ he further added. Among the key bills passed include the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019 that proposed to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories and the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2019 that criminalized the practice of Triple Talaq.
