Two held for assaulting, looting Hindu Jagran Manch women

The accused had targeted people in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Panchmahal and Dahod in the last one year
Vadodara: Ten days after they attacked and looted two women in the city, the detection of crime branch (DCB) have arrested two men who committed the crime. Crime branch sleuths said that the accused duo are history-sheeters and have targeted many citizens in the past.
The police said that it has detected 11 cases of mobile and vehicle thefts committed by the accused identified as Rajesh Damor, 23, a resident of Vishwamitri Road and Anil Baria, 25, a resident of Sayajipura. Both hail from Dahod and have been friends for the past few years. “We had received information about the accused and the CCTV footages too helped. The duo was nabbed under Lalbaug bridge,” said Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime).
During their interrogation, the accused revealed that they targeted many people in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Panchmahal and Dahod in the last one year. “They used to snatch mobile phones of people walking on the road or travelling in vehicles. These phones were then sold off. Also, they have stolen six two-wheelers from Ahmedabad and Vadodara,” Jadeja told TOI.
The police have seized six motorbikes, 20 mobile phones including some high-end handsets and Rs 1,500 cash from the duo. The cops are expecting to crack many more cases during their questioning in the coming days. Rajesh has been earlier arrested for stealing mobile phones and under the Arms Act in Dahod. His wife is currently in jail after she was caught ferrying liquor.

Anil was caught twice in the past in an inebriated condition. The duo had on the night of July 27 targeted two women identified as Megha Purohit and Sushma Solanki, affiliated with Hindu Jagran Manch, near the Shastri bridge. The victims were also assaulted by the accused before being looted of their mobile phones and wallets.
The women were returning home after counselling a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted by a man who promised to marry her. “The motorbike that the duo used in this crime was also stolen,” Jadeja added.
