Vadodara: Dr K V R Murthy from M S University’s Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE) has been elected unoposed as the president of Baroda University Teachers Association (BUTA) while Nikul Patel from FTE has become the general secretary (GS). The other office-bearers will be co-opted during the forthcoming annual general body of BUTA which is expected to be held next week.
There will be no elections for the six posts of office-bearers of Buta, including that of president, vice-president, GS, secretary (organisation), secretary (administration) and secretary (finance), scheduled to be held on August 9 as no candidate were left in the fray for the posts. Murthy and Patel have got elected uncontested for two years term between 2019 and 2021.
Two years ago, the association had witnessed a proper election for the post of president when Prof Umesh Dangarwala from the Faculty of Commerce was elected as the president. Between 2017 and 2019, Murthy was serving as vice-president, Nikul as GS, Dharmendra Shah from Faculty of Science as secretary (administration) and Dhiraj Patel as secretary (organisation).
