The 'supermom' of India, former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, passed away after late Tuesday night after a massive cardiac arrest.

Leaders cutting across party lines, shocked by news of sudden demise of the veteran BJP leader, came together to pay their last respects. Front pages of Indian newspapers on Wednesday announced the late night news of Sushma Swaraj's to the country while noting it as a major loss.

The Indian Express, on its front page, led with the headline 'Sushma Swaraj is no more'. Calling her the BJP's fighter-in-chief, The Indian Express highlighted how the youngest minister in 1977 blended grit and grace.

With a footnote to its obit, The Indian Express used multiple photos of the 'most accessible 'foreign minister, including the one with Barack Obama.

Sushma Swaraj, who took diplomacy to the people, dies, announced The Times of India on its flap - "the popular politician, who made the foreign ministry accessible through social media".

The daily pointed out the last tweet of Sushma Swaraj where she thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the historic decision on Article 370. This was followed by Prime Minister Modi's tribute to the senior BJP leader, who said "a glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end". Hindustan Times ran the headline 'Towering BJP leader dies of cardiac arrest' along with a smiling photo of Sushma Swaraj.

Calling her the "one of the most accessible ministers", Hindustan Times wrote how Sushma Swaraj "extended a helping hand to many Indians in distress abroad".

The Telegraph boxed the news on its front page with the headline 'Sushma Swaraj no more' while in an inside page, publishing news report of the last tweet of the veteran leader 'wish fulfilled'.

Sushma Swaraj, 67, passed away on Tuesday night suffering a massive cardiac arrest.

The former Union minister was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences around 9.30 PM in a critical condition and was straight away taken to the emergency ward where a team of doctors attended to her but could not revive the astute politician, AIIMS had said.
