Karnataka: Vehicular movement on Charmadi Ghat road suspended for two days due to rain

The Charmadi Ghat road has been witnessing very heavy rainfall since Monday.
MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil has banned vehicular movement on the Charmadi Ghat connecting Dakshina Kannada with Chikkamagaluru for two days.
The Charmadi Ghat road on Mangaluru- Villupuram National Highway-73 has been witnessing very heavy rainfall since Monday.
Due to storm and continuous heavy rainfall on Tuesday, landslides and uprooting of trees were reported in many areas on the Ghat stretch.

Deputy commissioner Senthil, who also holds the charge of district magistrate, has ordered closure of Charmadi Ghat from August 7, 6am to August 8, 12pm, under section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and rule 221 A (5).
The traffic has been diverted from Ujire-Dhamasthala-Kokkada-Gundya-Shiradi (NH-75) and from MudigereHandpost to Jinnapura-Anemahal-Shiradi-Gundya-( NH-75).
