LUDHIANA: A father-son duo and their relative died when an
over-speeding SUV of a wine contractor hit their motorcycle on southern bypass near Doraha on Tuesday morning. While two persons died on the spot, third died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
According to officials, the collision was so impactful that the motorcycle split into two parts. While the accused managed to escape leaving car on spot, the onlookers rushed victims to hospital. Later on the
Doraha police arrested the accused from his house.
The deceased have been identified as
Sohan Singh, 78, a resident of Patiala,
Gian Singh, 58, and son
Harkiran Singh, 24, - residents of Payal in Ludhiana district. All of them were relatives.
Kin of deceased, Varinder Singh said that Harkiran Singh was son of Gian Sing and further Gian's daughter was married to Sohan's son who is settled in Australia. Harkiran was also planning to go abroad therefore the trio was going to Ludhiana on their bike to his medical examination done.
Inspector Davinderpal Singh, SHO at Police station Doraha, said that a case has been registered against the accused identified as Pawan Garcha, a wine contactor of village Bilga, Sahnewal. FIR has been lodged against him under section of 304 (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC.
Some eye witnesses also alleged that a cop was driving the car who also escaped from the spot. Inspector said on this that the police are verifying the fact.
