Rajkot: Two persons were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly making at least four failed attempts to break into automated teller machines (ATMs) of banks in Rajkot over the past three weeks. The accused were identified as Dhanji Devgana (34) and Rahil Katiya (27), both resident of Popatpara of Rajkot city.
The duo were arrested when they were attempting to cut open a ATM near Marwadi College on Morbi Road on Monday night.
According to Bhutta Katodiya, head constable of Kuvadva police station, during patrolling they saw the two accused carry a gas cylinder inside an ATM near Marwadi College. He said that initially the duo had tried to break the ATM using iron pipes, but they failed. So they tried using the gas cutter which they had brought with them in an autorickshaw.
During interrogation the duo confessed to have made similar failed attempts to break into ATMs at Bajrang Wadi, Indira Circle and Junction Road too.
