Steel City child rape accused in police remand, head traceless

Police are yet to find the severed head of the toddler who was raped and murdered after she was kidnapped from Tatanagar station last month. Rail SP Ehtesham Waquarib told TOI on Tuesday that the three accused in the case have been taken on remand and are being interrogated. He said prime accused Rinku Shah and Kailash Kumar during the course of interrogation said they were inebriated when they murdered the kid and decapitated her and could not remember where they had disposed the head. After the end of the remand period, the trio will be sent back to Gagidih Central Jail. Waquarib added that is still on to find the head of the child, who went missing from the station on July 25. On July 30, the torso of the child was found in Ramdin Bagan area in Jamshedpur. Police have also taken Monu Mandal, the third accused, in remand. Mandal was arrested by the cops after the girl’s mother alleged that he had helped Rinku and Kailash kidnap her daughter. The child was abducted when she was sleeping beside her mother on the platform. It may be mentioned here that the case has been registered under Pocso and police are trying to file the chargesheet as soon as possible.
