Non-coordination between Surat and Ahmedabad stations costed passengers heavily

SURAT: A case of non-coordination between Surat and Ahmedabad railway station authorities came to light on Tuesday when about 400 passengers from Ahmedabad had to pass through a gruelling experience.
The passengers from Ahmedabad, who were travelling to Chennai, were told that they will be able to board the Navjivan Express from Surat, which was terminated at Surat railway station on the previous day due to heavy rains and waterlogging between Kim and Kosamba station.
About 400 passengers boarded the Gujarat Express train from Ahmedabad on Tuesday morning to reach Surat station at about 11:30 am. However, due to non-coordination by the Ahmedabad station officials, Navjivan Express left Surat station at about 11:25 as the Surat station officials were not given information about the arrival of the passengers through Gujarat Express.
The passengers came at Surat railway station in Gujarat Express to found that the Navjivan Express had already departed. The passengers protested outside the station manager’s office at Surat railway station and demanded to call back Navjivan Express.

Talking with TOI, station manager CM Khatik said, "Actually, we were not given any information by our counterparts in Ahmedabad regarding the passengers boarding Navjivan Express from Surat. In order to facilitate the passengers, we called back the Navjivan Express train, which had already left the station and ensured that all the passengers travelling to Chennai boarded the train”
Khatik added, “The passengers boarded Gujarat Express and that it was halted at Udhana station where Navjivan Express was about to leave. The passengers were given the chance for early boarding the train. Once all the passengers had boarded, Navjivan Express left the station at 12:00 am.”
