Memes on Article 370 flood social media

KANPUR: The decision to revoke Article 370 of the Constitution brought immense pleasure and happiness to the social media users. Those who are not active on social media too praised PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.
But there was a flood of memes on social media poking fun at Bollywood actors and political leaders.
Memes showing brokers and buyers talking about purchasing property in Kashmir are also making rounds.
People burst out in laughter to share jokes and memes on social media such as Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp.
The city unit of the BJP said that such a big decision could only be taken by PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. BJP district president for north city, Surendra Maithani, expressing happiness congratulated the countrymen for such a major political decision.
But there were others who were not happy with the way jokes were poked at and said that this was a serious issue which cannot be mocked. “Politics aside, sharing memes and jokes on abrogation of Article 370 while Kashmiris struggle to communicate with their loved ones living in a constant state of fear and misinformation must check their privilege. The situation in Kashmir is not a joke,” a Twitter user wrote on the micro-blogging site.
