BHUBANESWAR: The
Odisha government on Tuesday approved seven
investment proposals worth Rs 1,036.39 crore, which will create employment opportunity for 2778 people.
The projects, approved by the state level single window clearance authority (
SLSWCA) headed by chief secretary A P Padhi, were from the sectors like tourism, metals, plastics, food processing and infrastructure.
The CS-led panel cleared a proposal by the Odisha-based Mayfair Hotels and Resort Ltd to set up a convention center with 4000-capacity in the city. The project would generate employment 850 people.
Another project by leading plastic manufacturer Supreme Industries Ltd also got SLSWCA nod. It would set up a manufacturing unit in Khurda for production of plastic pipes, PVC water tanks and allied products with investment of Rs 151.30 crore. The unit has the potential to generate 320 jobs.
Another project on plastics sector by Bhagirathi Packaging Pvt Ltd to set up a polypropylene woven bag production unit in Bhadrak district was also approved in the meeting. The bag production unit will have an investment potential of Rs 60.29 crore with employment generation potential for 500 people.
The two food processing units approved by the chief secretary-level panel include Thailand based Intecqc Feed Co Ltd for setting up Shrimp Feed manufacturing unit in Khurda with an investment of Rs 107.88 crore and employment potential of 205 people. The second food processing unit was by Explore Food Pvt Ltd, an
Odisha based industry for manufacturing of ready to eat snacks unit in Khurda with investment of Rs 51.40 crore and employment potential of 194 persons.
In the metal sector, a proposal by the KAI International Pvt Ltd for setting up an iron ore beneficiation and pellet plant in Sundargarh district was approved. It envisaged investment of Rs 265.72 crore and creation of job opportunities for 475 people.
Similarly, the government also approved an infrastructure project by Chalah Infratech Pvt Ltd to set up a logistic park in Khurda district entailing investment of Rs 99.80 crore and job opportunities for 234 persons.
While approving the projects, the chief secretary directed concerned departments to make a realistic assessment of the requirement of land and water for these industrial units. The departments were also asked to provide proactive and facilitating support for early grounding of the projects.
Sources in the state industries department said the SLSWCA recommended five more investment proposals for approval of the high-level clearance authority headed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik as each of the project involves investment intent of Rs 1000 crore and above.
