Upset over argument with wife, man attempts suicide

VADODARA: A resident of Bhayli attempted suicide by jumping into Vishwamitri River on Monday evening. Bhavani Shankar Dayma reached the bridge near Munj Mahuda and parked his bike there at about 8 pm. He looked around and then jumped into the river infested with crocodiles.
A policeman who was posted nearby raised alarm and asked for help following which a local identified as Kanu Mali jumped in the river to save Dayma.
The policemen and other locals joined in the rescue efforts. The police said that Dayma, who was married for last five years, had an argument with his wife. He was upset and hence decided to end his life. Fortunately, neither Dayma nor the rescuers were attacked by any crocodile. The police said that Dayma is in stable condition.
