Divyangs get artificial hands fixed in free camp

Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) organised free artificial limb camp on Sunday in a first of its kind to facilitate Divyang community. This camp was organised in collaboration with Rotary Club to help Divyang pupil from underprivileged back ground. Inaugurating this camp at Rotary Bhavan Mayor Alok Sharma said that more such camps should be organised to help divyang pupil.  He also said that with this artificial hand now many divyang pupils will be able to perform many activities including computer related activities.

In this camp total 400 divyang pupils have done registration out of which, 353 availed this facility and have been provided artificial hands. On this occasion many Rotarian members long with Deputy Commissioner BMC Harish Gupta, officials from social justice department, doctors etc were present. This workshop was organised by BMC in collaboration with Rotary Club Bhopal and Indore, LN Foundation USA. The main objective of the workshop will be to facilitate students from divyang community who are from underprivileged section.

The camp was organised at Banganga Choraha, Rotary Bhavan. The Rotary Club has started artificial limb camp from 2015 and till now around 3,000 people have got benefitted from it. This artificial limb is durable and divyang pupil can utilize this for any computer related work, computer operates, and also daily chores can be done. Weight of 10 kg can also be lifted with the help of this artificial limb.

The weight of the limb is only 400 grams. This limb cost is around 300 US dollars and is being given to physically disabled people I America. As a part of procedure the person who wish to fun this donation also place his photo and wheel wishes to the person in need with artificial limb.  There is a wide variety of prostheses that are designed to function and in many cases look like a natural hand. Although, there are many different designs, most have similar parts.

These include a socket into which the stump of the amputated limb fits. The suspension which holds the prosthesis onto the stump. The shaft the hand, or hook and a covering for cosmetic appearances. The socket is often lined with foam or silicone to protect the stump. Special socks are also worn over the stump to ensure a proper fit and improve comfort. This artificial limb is being provided is durable and is of high quality which can facilitate in making person do all kinds of computer related jobs.
