Former Union Minister and BJP MP V. Srinivas Prasad on Tuesday claimed that the BJP was in a transition phase and was aiming to earn the trust of Muslims also in the country.
He was speaking at his birthday celebrations at Odanadi, an NGO, here.
When a resident of Odanadi sought to know how a person with a progressive outlook like him could join a communal party such as the BJP, Mr. Prasad said the party was trying to earn the trust and faith of Muslims also.
As part of its membership drive in the State, Mr. Prasad said the BJP had set a target to enrol five lakh Muslims. When it comes to religion, Mr. Prasad said he was neither a believer nor a disbeliever in God. “I believe only in humanity,” he said.
He also called upon people’s representatives to set time aside for charitable activities.
Former Minister G.T. Deve Gowda too joined the birthday celebrations of Mr. Prasad.
