HISAR: During its 17th foundation day celebrations held at Hisar on Monday, Indian National Students Organisation pledged to eliminate drug addiction from Haryana. In the event, held at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST) in Hisar, the student outfit launched a campaign to make the state drug-free.
Addressing the gathering, INSO president Digvijay Singh Chautala administered an oath to the young participants to stay away from drugs and other intoxicants.
Former Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala said, “If we do not talk about intoxicants regularly, then Haryana, which is famous for milk and curd, will be ruined by substance abuse.”

He said the Haryana youths were today known for winning medals for India in the sports events, protecting the country’s borders by joining the defence forces and growing food grain for the nation. “It is a matter of regret that in the last few years, the tentacles of drugs are reaching every village and pushing the youth towards addiction,” Dushyant said.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Haryana has failed to curb the drug menace. In districts like Fatehabad and Sirsa, the situation is becoming worrisome. If this situation is not controlled, then entire state will be trapped in the grip of drugs,” Dushyant said.
