Belur MLA and JD(S) district president K.S. Lingesh has said he would not quit the party. He met B.S.Yediyurappa only to wish him on being sworn-in as Chief Minister of the State, he told presspersons, here on Tuesday.
He along with Pushpagiri Mutt seer Somashekhar Swamy met Chief Minister in Bengaluru. His visit to the CM's residence had led to speculation on his remaining with the JD(S). “I went with the seer to wish him. Besides that I have appealed him to provide funds for the irrigation projects benefiting my constituency Belur,” he said.
The previous coalition government had sanctioned a project to fill up Halebidu tank from Yagachi at a cost of ₹170 crore. As much as ₹100 crore had been released. “I appealed to the CM to ensure the work is completed and the remaining fund is released”, he said.
Further, he made it clear that he would never ditch the JD(S). His father was member of the Janata Dal and he would continue to remain in the party.
He said the party would hold a workers' convention in Bengaluru on Wednesday. It would be followed by membership campaign to strengthen the party.
