UDAIPUR: In a surprise raid in central jail here on Sunday, police seized 14 phones, headphones and chargers from different barracks and mess.
According to sources, six phones were found in the mess where prisoners had concealed the handsets inside rice and sugar sacks kept for ration. In the wards, the phones were hidden inside beddings, holes dug in the walls and even in the floors.
A smartphone was also recovered from gangster Anandpal's brother Rupinder Pal, alias Vicky, who is lodged in the high-security ward. SP Kailashchandra Bishnoi said the raid, carried out by 250 personnel, was carried out after getting complaints of threat calls being made from inside the jail.

Police will study every message and call made from Vicky’s phone to other numbers. Cops suspect he was operating a gang from inside the jail.
Vicky was arrested for attacking police officer Suryaveer Singh, who had gone to arrest him following a warrant. He had attacked the officer inside the jailor's room, which had shocked the authorities.
