JAIPUR:
Rajasthan department of college education has given a representation to National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) stating that it has appointed 28 teachers who are qualified to teach at the five BEd
colleges in the state which were closed last year.
The state government was left red-faced after the NCTE decided to withdraw the affiliation to five BEd colleges in October 2018. The NCTE found that BEd colleges at Chimanpura (Jaipur), Kaladera (Jaipur), Kherwara (
Udaipur), Nasirabad (Ajmer) and Bhopalgarh (Jodhpur) have been violating norms. As per norms, every BEd college must have 16 teachers but none of them fulfilled the requirement. They lacked non-teaching staff, infrastructure and did not have a website.
However, in an appeal to the higher authority on August 2, commissioner of college education, Pradeep Borad has clarified that they have identified and appointed 28 teachers who will be sent to take classes for a month in these five colleges. This period will be extended from time to time. “We have fulfilled the required norms and we also have infrastructure and faculties,” said Borad.
When asked about conducting a separate exam for these colleges through RPSC, Borad explained that it is under process. “We have to change the rules and regulations for new appointments. We will soon appoint new teachers but meanwhile they can teach on deputation,” said Borad.
