Titu claims victory for Phoolka’s ultimatum to speaker

Ludhiana: Terming it as his victory, comedian-cum-social activist Jai Parkash Jain alia Titu Bania has thanked HS Phoolka for sending a letter to Vidhan Sabha speaker Rana KP Singh to accept his resignation, or else he (Phoolka) would move the Supreme Court. Notably, Titu on Friday had tried to protest against the speaker for not accepting Phoolka’s resignation, who was elected as MLA from Ludhiana’s Dakha constituency.
Speaking to TOI, a jubilant Titu said: “Finally, some action has happened after my constant campaign against injustice being done to people of Mullanpur Dakha, who have been left in the lurch without an MLA for the past almost one year. I appreciate the gesture of Phoolka who had shot off a letter to Vidhan Sabha speaker, asking him to accept his resignation, or he would approach the Supreme Court. I hope this strongly-worded letter will have some impact soon, as the speaker is now left with no other option but to accept Phoolka’s resignation and call for fresh elections in our constituency. However, it is my promise to the people of Mullanpur and Dakha that whatever happens, my tirade against the political wrong-doings will continue like this only, and I will not sit silent until Phoolka’s resignation is finally accepted, and the date of elections announced.”
