Flooded tracks near Kosamba cripple movement of trains

In all movement of as many as 37 trains was disrupted on Sunday
VADODARA: Rail traffic movement in Vadodara railway division as well as other destinations of Gujarat of trains coming from Mumbai side was severely disrupted due to waterlogging on Gothangam-Sayan stretch and Kosamba stretch near Bharuch.
In all movement of as many as 37 trains was disrupted on Sunday. In Vadodara railway division itself as many as 21 trains including 19 memu trains and two express trains remained cancelled.
The memu trains which were cancelled included those between milk city Anand and temple town Dakor, between Godhra and Anand, Vadodara and Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad and Anand, Godhra and Vadodara and Vadodara and Dahod and vice versa. A pair of express train running between Vadodara and Bhilad was also cancelled during the day.
It was for the second time in less than 24 hours that the stretch near Kosamba railway station was heavily waterlogged. Waterlogging on these stretches led to cancellation of nine trains while seven others were diverted.
“I had boarded Amritsar train from Bandra as it was as an easy option for me to reach Vadodara. But now I am stuck as I have been asked to deboard on Surat,” said Dharmesh Parmar, a Vadodara resident, who took the road to reach Vadodara from Surat.

“I had booked Lokshakti Express to reach Anand but now the train has been cancelled and am trying to make arrangements to reach my home from Surat,” said Dhaval Patel, a resident of Anand.
ources said that the railway officials had kept help desk at Surat railway station to provide assistance to commuters who had boarded their trains for Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Navsari, Vadodara, Anand, Nadiad and Ahmedabad. But Surat railway station witnessed complete chaos.
