AIG has appointed Ms Jennifer Waldner to the newly-created role of chief sustainability officer, where she will lead the development and implementation of a company-wide sustainability strategy.
Her appointment is effective immediately and she will report to AIG executive vice president and AIG Life Holdings vice chair Thomas Leonardi.
Placing a significant focus on sustainability matters, AIG has also issued its first Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report to provide greater transparency into this strategy and align reporting activities with industry standards.
“The creation of a chief sustainability officer position reflects AIG’s ongoing commitment to sustainability as an insurer, investor, employer and corporate citizen” said Mr Leonardi.
Ms Waldner brings over 20 years of experience working on matters related to corporate citizenship and sustainability. For the past ten years, she has held positions of increasing responsibility within AIG focused on these areas. Prior to her current role, she was most recently AIG Life and Retirement head of citizenship.
She is a graduate of Texas A&M University and earned a master’s degree from Boston University with a focus on community relations.
