A crash on the A55 is sparking long delays for motorists.

The incident has happened on the eastbound carriageway near Northop, in Flintshire.

Long queues are building.

Traffic Wales has warned motorists to expect queues.

Two vehicles involved

North Wales Police have confirmed. A car and van were involved in the collision. The police were called at 6.19am.

One person taken to hospital

Statement from the Welsh Ambulance Service (WAS). According to WAS it was a two vehicle collision. We’ll seek to confirm that.

We were called on Monday 29 July at approximately 06:43 am to reports of a road traffic accident involving two vehicles on the A55. We responded with one ambulance and one patient was transported by road ambulance to Countess Of Chester Hospital.

Accident cleared

Confirmation crash site has been cleared.

Collision with central reservation

According to traffic reports, the car collided with the central reservation.

Crash site cleared - but delays remain

All lanes have been re-opened. But very slow traffic due to the earlier accident. One car involved on the A55 North Wales Expressway Eastbound at J33 A5119 Northop Road (Northop). Congestion to A55 J32A (Pentre Halkyn).

Ambulance crew was on scene

The Welsh Ambulance Service (WAS) had one ambulance at the scene. The service was called at 6.41am.

According to traffic reports, one vehicle is involved eastbound at J33 A5119 Northop Road (Northop). Congestion is reported to A55 J32A (Pentre Halkyn).
