Rae Bareli mishap: Akhilesh Yadav demands CBI probe, alleges conspiracy to murder Unnao rape victim

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav.
LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday demanded a CBI probe into the Rae Bareli road accident alleging that it could be an attempt to kill the Unnao rape survivor. The statement came hours after the accident in which the rape victim and her lawyer, Mahendra Singh, were critically injured while her aunt and another woman relative were killed when a truck crashed into their car on NH-31.
"There is a strong possibility of conspiracy to murder the victim due to which the investigation of the murder should be handed over to the CBI. This is an another example of jungle raj in the state and only a central agency should be entrusted with the task of probing the accident case," he said.
"We offer our condolences to the grieving family. We want the government to provide proper treatment and round-the-clock security to injured victim,” he said.

He also demanded adequate compensation to the kin of deceased.
SP leaders led by Anand Bhadauriya also visited trauma centre and took stock of the medical facilities being provided to the injured.
