Swiss ambassador takes part in Ekamra Walks

Swiss Ambassador to India Andreas Baum took part in a special heritage walk in Old Town during his recent visit to the city. The walk began in the beautiful premises of the Mukteswar and Siddheswar temples. And he was overwhelmed by the sheer artistry on display on the walls. The envoy was all praise for the master craftsmen of Odisha.

Throughout the walk, he took many pictures, especially of temples, their architecture and structural designs and trees along the route. He appreciated the greenery and loved the temples. He was truly amazed at the view of the Lingaraj temple complex from atop the Curzon Mandap. The special walk culminated at the medicinal plant garden, Ekamra Van. Here, he was briefed about the medicinal plants available in the garden.
Though the special Ekamra Walks was held in the afternoon, the regular Sunday Walks was held in the morning where a good number of people took part. Mostly youngsters and students took part in this weekly walk in the Old Town visiting the temple.

"The walk was great, and I got to see a different side of this city, which I had never visited. It was very insightful,” said Akash, an anthropology student from Kerala at Utkal University.
Also, the 53rd Museum Walk took place at the Odisha crafts museum, Kala Bhoomi, in the afternoon. While the walk provides an insight to the participants about the crafts and craftsmanship of Odisha, it’s the craft workshops at the museum that attracts youngsters. The participants, mostly the students, took part in the workshop and learnt how to make pottery and terracotta models.
