45 medical seats from all India quota returns to Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) on Saturday issued notification regarding return of 45 vacant medical seats under All India Quota (AIQ) to state quota. Provisional admission for these seats will be conducted on July 30, 31 and August 1.
The state has a total of 1400 medical seats. As many as 15 per cent seats of the state medical colleges are reserved for All India level students. After admission in national level is over, vacant seats returned to state quota.
SCB medical college and hospital (SCB MCH) at Cuttack received six AIQ seats, MKCG MCH, Berhampur, (7), VIMSAR, Burla, (7), Pandit Raghunath Murmu medical college, Baripada, (5), SLN MCH, Koraput, (3), Govt medical college, Balasore, (4), Govt medical college, Balangir, (6) and SCB Dental College (7).
After first round admission, the state has vacancy of 259 MBBS and BDS seats in seven eight medical colleges and two private colleges. The total vacant seats touched 304 following the addition of AIQ seats.
Process for second round admission of medical seats has already started in the state since July 27. Provisional admission for this round will be conducted between June 30 and August 1. The students will report to their respective institutions on August 3.
If seats lie vacant after the two rounds, spot counselling will be conducted at OJEE office. Students can register their names for spot counselling on August 2 and 3. Spot counselling will be held between August 4 and 8 and last date for joining in the institutions is August 12, said OJEE chairman SK Chand.
The candidates who have taken admission in first or second rounds of counselling (all India or state) are not eligible to participate in spot counselling, said a notification of the OJEE.
