PM Narendra Modi Mann Ki Baat Today Highlights: Addressing the nation through his monthly radio programme, Mann ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured assistance for people suffering due to floods in different parts of the country.

Picking up where he left off in his last session regarding water conservation, the prime minister said he had received positive response for the address last week and encouraged listeners to save water. He lauded Jharkhand and Haryana governments for their respective water conservation efforts and praised Meghalaya government for being the first state in India to draft a ‘water conservation policy’. PM Modi focused on the need for good governance in Jammu and Kashmir and admired Indian scientists for successful launch of the Chandrayaan-2 space mission.

The Mann ki Baat programme is aired on All India Radio, Doordarshan and the Narendra Modi App on the last Sunday of every month at 11 am. It will also be live-streamed on YouTube channels of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B Ministry).

'55th edition of Mann ki Baat today; PM spent more than 40 hours towards service of country through this medium'

Meanwhile, BJP's Working President J P Nadda appreciating PM Modi's Mann ki Baat today, said, " PM Modiji has inspired youth, children through the medium of Mann ki baat. Today's programme was the 55th edition of the radio show. The Prime Minister began the programme on October 3, 2014 and he has contributed more than 40 hours through the show for the society, country and to promote social work. The issues raised by him became mass movements."

PM Modi assures support for those suffering due to floods

Regarding the flood situation in several parts of the country, especially North East and Bihar, PM Modi assured that government would extend support to those suffering during floods. Monsoon brings about freshness and happiness to the country, he added. He also highlighted record participation in the Amarnath Yatra, visit to Kedarnath temple and praised locals for their hospitality.

People of Jammu and Kashmir want development and good governance: PM Modi

"Few days ago, Jammu and Kashmir resident Mohammad Akhlaq shared that he began a Community mobilization programme- Back To Village in June. I was intrigued by the programme, so I read about it and now I want to share it with the entire country. Kashmiris are constantly trying to engage with the country's development schemes and through this programme, administrative officials could reach villages. Due to the programme, these officials themselves got in touch to understand problems faced by villagers and this programme went on for a week spreading information about government schemes," shared PM Modi on the requirement for good governance in Jammu & Kashmir. 

PM praises Yogesh Saini and his team for beautifying Delhi's Lodhi Gardens

On beautification of places, PM Modi shared, "Recently in the media, I saw the efforts made by Yogesh Saini and his team. An engineer by profession, Saini quit his job in the US and is engaged in serving the country. Some time ago, he took up the work of not only making Delhi clean but also beautifying it. Through the medium of street art, he beautified Lodhi Gardens into Lodhi Art District by removing the garbage, painting buildings of schools and overbridges. People have also noted and appreciated his efforts."

Places have increasingly become ODF due to joint effort of 130 crore Indians: PM Modi

"I've have spoken about cleanliness initiatives on Mann ki Baat several times and the different activities that are being taken up are motivating this show. We have not yet reached the perfect status of ensuring cleanliness but the way public places have increasingly become 'Open Defecation Free (ODF)' is commendable and it is the joint effort of 130 crore Indians. We are not going to stop at this and now it is not only about cleanliness but also about beautification," says prime minister on cleanliness initiatives taken up across the country. 

PM Modi announces science quiz for school students, invites kids to participate

PM Modi announced a school competition for students of the country and invited them to take part in the quiz. He said, "I strongly urge the schools, parents, enthusiastic teachers and teachers to work hard to make their school victorious in the quiz that we are organizing. Children who score the highest score would be rewarded with an opportunity to witness the moment of the landing of Chandrayaan 2 in Sriharikota on September 7."

"This month was extremely special as A-SAT Chandrayaan-2 took off. The heart and spirit of Chandraayan 2 is Indian and this project has proven that our scientists are trustworthy. We should be fearless in everything, just like our scientists launched the space mission within stipulated time frame despite technical snags as they have not changed the time of it's landing. I've full faith Chandraayan 2 will encourage the youth to take Science ahead because science means progress. I'm looking forward to September when the mission's two main landings will happen," PM Modi said.

PM Modi lauds Meghalaya and Haryana government for saving water

Taking his last week's topic ahead on water conservation, Prime Minister Modi lauded Meghalaya government for using water consciously. by drafting a water policy. He also congratulated Haryana government for encouraging farmers to grow and cultivate crops which do not require a lot of water for irrigation, thus saving water.

PM Modi urges people to read books, invites book suggestions on app

PM Modi starts his today's edition by talking about books, admitting that he has not had a lot of time on his hand lately to read books. He urges people to start sharing details of several books that they read on the Narendra Modi app and invites suggestions for names for book's corner on the app. 

PM Modi condoles Jaipal Reddy's death

Ahead of his radio programme today, PM Modi condoled the death of Congress veteran and former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy. "Shri Jaipal Reddy had years of experience in public life. He was respected as an articulate speaker and effective administrator. Saddened by his demise," the Prime Minister's Office tweeted quoting Modi. In the previous edition of Mann ki Baat, his first after BJP's landslide victory in Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi said he was confident of his win as he had faith in people. Recalling his Kedarnath visit during polls, Modi said some politicised his journey but that it was an opportunity to meet his inner self. Modi had also said that the polls were the largest democratic election ever held in the world, with 61 crore Indians exercising their franchise.

In his first term, Modi had addressed the nation on 53 occasions through his monthly broadcast after coming to power in 2014.
