Eleven States seek ‘Green Bonus’

Eleven States belonging to the  Himalayan Region  on Sunday sought a ‘Green Bonus’ from the Centre considering their contributions to environmental conservation.

They also asked the Centre to set up a dedicated Ministry for the region. The States assembled for the first time on a platform titled ‘Conclave of the Himalayan States’.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who presided over the meeting, said their development is high on the agenda.  The 11 States are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttarakhand
