Hantex to roll out premium garments

Thiruvananthapuram: Public sector unit Hantex is set to roll out premium handloom brands of dress materials, including saree, mundu and shirt, for Onam market.
A collection of diverse and quality products will be on offer during Onam, said an official release issued here on Monday.
The Onam market will witness relaunch of the ‘Royal’ brand of Kuthampulli colour sarees and Balaramapuram double mundu with added quality. “The ‘Commando’ readymade shirts, a work in linen and cotton by expert weavers in Kannur and Kozhikode districts, will be launched in August. The particular brand is also expected to get exported,” the release said.
More number of looms will be utilised for increasing the production of premium brands, Kerala State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society (Hantex) said.
“The weaving of Kuthampulli saris is now expanded to 50 looms from the current 25, while around 120 looms in Kannur and Kozhikode districts are engaged in preparing cotton and linen shirting fabric,” it said.
