Dark clouds, drizzle lift city’s mood

Ludhiana: Residents continued to enjoy pleasant weather in the city as drizzle and overcast conditions kept the day temperature low on Friday. The good news for residents is that the Met department predicts rainfall activity in the next few days.
As about 14mm of rainfall occurred in the city from 8.30am on Thursday to the same time on Friday, and the presence of thick clouds in the sky on Friday, the weather remained pleasant in the city. There was intermittent drizzle in the city during the day on Friday as well, even as thick clouds prevailed in Ludhiana skies.
The effect of drizzle and cloudy weather did impact the temperatures in the city with the maximum temperature on Friday being recorded at 31.1 degrees Celsius (3 degrees below normal). The maximum temperature in Ludhiana on Thursday was 29.8 degrees (four degrees below normal).
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Ludhiana on Friday was around normal at 25.8 degrees, which is 0.7 degrees less than on Thursday. As residents enjoyed the pleasant weather in the city, the Met department has more good news for them on the weather front.
“There are chances of moderate to heavy rainfall on Saturday, after which light to moderate rainfall is expected until around the first week of August. The impact of rain might be witnessed on temperatures in the city, and day and night temperatures might be recorded around or below normal. However, the humidity levels might remain high during the next few days,” said Chandigarh Met department director Surinder Paul.

The Met department website predicts a rise in day temperature to 33 degrees until Monday, after which the same may fall to 32 degrees by next Wednesday. The Met department forecasts the night temperature to rise to 27 degrees until Sunday, followed by a fall to 25 degrees by next Tuesday.
The residents, meanwhile, are enjoying the pleasant change in the weather. “Last week was very hot and humid, but things changed for the better during the ongoing week. One can even do away with air-conditioners, as the fan is also effective. The weather is so good that we are having pakodas and chai during the day, as it is perfect time for such feasts,” said Jaspreet Singh, a trader of BRS Nagar.
