NEW DELHI: A
fake message has been doing the rounds among
law aspirants who have appeared for the prestigious
CLAT (
Common Law Admission Test) asking them to apply online and deposit fee for admissions into law colleges.
The message asks students to click on a provided link, choose any two colleges and deposit the fee.
A senior
IPS officer whose son had appeared for CLAT got this message. When he tried to contact the CLAT authorities, they said that the message had nothing to do with them.
"CLAT consortium has not initiated anything of this sort. Kindly check the authenticity of the email you have received. Please do not make any transactions on this site and kindly check once again the domain from where you have received the mail," said the message from the CLAT support team in response to a query raised by the IPS officer.
The message has likely been sent to most of the aspirants who are in the waiting list from rank 2,500 to 10,000. Three rounds of counselling are over and students are waiting for the final results.
What is also intriguing is the fact that the mail has access to all the details of the aspirants.
Since the message has come on Friday evening, for many aspirants there would be no way to confirm anything till Monday morning. Many students may be lured into depositing the money in the hope of making it to a preferred law college.
