Striking Ola cab drivers will ply only after demands are met

Nagpur: The strike by Ola electric cab drivers entered its third day on Friday. The drivers are demanding higher commission. They will meet Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday morning.
According to the letter written by drivers to Ola’s local manager, booking lot should be increased and customer app should be shown to them.
The rent of a car should beRs 500. Drivers should be provided alternative source of income on the day the electric vehicles are taken off for charging. The charging amount should be reduced, the letter stated.
Their other demands are that all the bookings should be in electronic category, shared booking should be encouraged, the vehicles must be maintained properly, the drivers should be given four leaves a month otherwise complaints should not be accepted, and the officials should behave properly with drivers.
The drivers have stated that unless these demands were met, they will not ply their vehicles. They will not pay any rent during this period. They should not be asked to surrender their taxis.
The letter further states that drivers have been plying these vehicles since the last 27 months but the company is making their life difficult by imposing new conditions every now and then.

Cab driver Dinesh Khobragade has issued a press release claiming that the condition of Ola and Uber cab drivers was pitiable. They were having difficulty in making ends meet due to inadequate commission.
According to him, the two companies were not taking into account the instalment to be paid to banks, vehicle insurance premium, tyre replacement, servicing every three months, minor maintenance expenses etc. Unless the commission of the drivers was increased, it would be difficult for them to continue in the business.
