Trader held for fleeing with friend’s BMW car

Ludhiana: The police on Friday arrested a shopkeeper for fleeing with the BMW car of his friend over a monetary dispute.
Lakhbir Singh, 45, a resident of Dhandhar who runs a garment shop, was nabbed at Jeevan Nagar Chowk.
Gagandeep Singh Saini, 40, a realtor, said in his police complaint, “My uncle owns a BMW car, which I often drive. On July 24, Lakhbir asked me to bring the BMW car so that we could go to Doraha. When we returned from Doraha, Lakhbir, who was at the wheel, asked me to alight. He said he had to go to Jamalpur chowk to meet someone.”
Lakhbir promised to return in a few minutes. “But when he did not return, I called him up. Lakhbir received the call and said he would return the car only after I paid back Rs 40,000 that I had borrowed from him,” he added.

Gagandeep, a resident of Gurbagh Colony, then lodged a police complaint.
Focal Point police station SHO inspector Amandeep Singh Brar said, “After registering a case under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the IPC, Lakhbir was caught with the car at Jeevan Nagar Chowk. Lakhbir told that as Gagandeep was not returning his Rs 40,000, he took away his car.”
