Ghaziabad: A Delhi University
professor living in Vaishali has been booked for allegedly misbehaving with the chief engineer and threatening officials of the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC). His grouse, police said, was that corporation officials had dumped garbage from a drain in front of his house.
The man, identified as Ashutosh Gupta, is a resident of JJ Colony in Sector 9 of Vaishali.
According to a complaint by Mahendra Pratap, a GMC official, around 12 noon on Wednesday, Gupta barged into the office and told officials that since several days, garbage had been lying unattended in front of his house, which was taken out from a drain by Moiniddin, chief engineer in the corporation. He also claimed that he was a professor in Delhi University.
“The professor also made a threatening statement that he will not spare any person if the official failed to clean the garbage lying in front of his house,” the FIR said.
Umesh Bahadur Singh, SHO of Sihani Gate police station, said that on the basis of the official’s complaint, an FIR has been registered under IPC section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of duty).
