Chennai: Suspecting infidelity, wife kills husband

CHENNAI: A woman murdered her husband by crushing his head with a grinding stone as she suspected his fidelity, at Vengal in Tiruvallur district in the early hours of Friday.
The victim was identified as Velu, 45, a construction worker.
The woman, Gnanammal, 40, often quarrelled with Velu as she suspected that he was having an illicit relationship some women working with him. On Thursday night, Gnanammal quarrelled with Velu and he beat her up.
Later, Gnanammal woke up in the early hours of Friday, took a grinding stone and threw it on the head of her husband, who was sleeping, and killed him. Their son and daughter woke up in the morning and saw Velu’s body. Hearing the children’s cries, neighbours rushed to the house and alerted police.
The Vengal police registered a murder case and arrested Gnanammal.
