Jaipur: Rain rage on, brace for more in next 24 hours

In the past two days, Sikar recorded a rainfall of 250mm, the highest since 2012.
JAIPUR: A 14-year-old boy drowned and several kuchha houses were washed away following heavy rainfall for the second consecutive day in Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Jaipur and Churu districts on Friday.
Rajesh drowned in a rain-fed river when the soil caved in near Keeron Ki Dhani in Jhunjhuni district. He had gone there along with his friends to see the overflowing water body.

Jaipur meteorological department has forecast heavy rainfall in 21 districts in the next 24 hours.
Following heavy rainfall over the last two days, some trains which pass through Shekhawati region covering Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Churu were cancelled as tracks caved in at several places. Trains were also cancelled at Srikaranpur in Sriganganagar after tracks got submerged.
Shahbad (Baran) and Sikar received 150 mm of rainfall each in a single day, the highest in the state. In Sikar, all the rain fed rivers were in spate and traffic remained standstill for more than four hours.
Four persons in a car, who got trapped in a car while crossing an underpass near Oontwalia Ka Raasta in Jhunjhunu because of the rains, were rescued by the local residents.
“After spotting the vehicle getting submerged, local people bailed out the trapped passengers — two men, a woman and a child — using a rope,” said a senior police officer. The family was travelling from Sardarshahar to Alwar via Jhunjhunu.
A youth, who was performing stunt on a rain-fed river near Ranoli and got swept away, was also rescued by local people. Seven persons who were stuck in the rain-fed rivers at Ranoli, Sikar, Govti and Minda village were saved from drowning by police and local residents.
In the past two days, Sikar recorded a rainfall of 250mm, the highest since 2012.

The Rajasthan State Roadways Corporation (RSRTC) and private buses from Sikar to Jhunjhunu and from Jhunjhunu to Churu and Sikar remained cancelled due to submerged roads.
Many private schools in Churu, Jhunjhunu and Sikar also remained closed.
