BENGALURU: A 37-year-old homemaker died when she was run over by her car after the vehicle toppled over due to a tyre burst, throwing her out. The car flipped four times before landing 20 feet below on the bed of Jigani Lake near Anekal on Thursday afternoon.
Mamatha came under the wheels of the 2007-model Hyundai Santro, which her husband Anand Kumar, 45, was driving, police said. He lost control of the vehicle when the front left tyre exploded.
Police said the couple, from Hulimangala village, was travelling towards Jigani at 1.30pm when the
accident occurred. Anand, a farmer, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital by passersby.
Jigani police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a mortuary. "Witnesses said it was a case of tyre burst. We are yet to ascertain the exact reason for the accident. Experts will examine the vehicle," an officer said. The muddy road connecting Hulimangala and Jigani on the lake side is in a poor condition.
