Noida: As many as 33 persons have been arrested from a fake
insurance company in Sector 63 for allegedly duping around 80 persons. The move came a day after Gujarat Police raided the same
fake insurance provider on Tuesday night after an Ahmedabad resident filed a complaint against the
company for allegedly duping of Rs 37 lakh over a period of three years.
The arrested persons, including 16 women and 17 men, have been working as callers in the company for past three to six months, police said. However, the directors and owners of the company are still absconding.
Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Vaibhav Krishna said that six complainants who had apparently complained against the company’s activities were also present at the spot when the Noida police conducted a separate raid on Wednesday night. As many as 85 files of targets were recovered from the spot.
The accused would call the targets across the country, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and others, and offer loans.
“The collective amount fraudulently extracted over the past six months amounts to Rs 1 crore. No money has been recovered from the spot, but their bank accounts will be sealed,” said the SSP.
On Wednesday, five persons were also arrested from another branch of the company located in Aligarh.
