PUNE: Over 9,000 candidates have taken admissions through Centralised Admission Process (CAP) in the second round for First Year Junior College (FYJC) in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The second round got over on Thursday.
A total of 20,601 students were allotted colleges in this round.
Around 9,136 candidates confirmed their admissions in the allotted colleges, as per the data collected by the Education Department till 6 pm.
The second round was supposed to wrap up around 3 pm.
However, many students reported at the centres around 3 pm.
“As a lot of students came to the colleges at the same time, it caused a little delay in the admission process. Following which, the deadline for admissions in the second round was extended till 7 pm,” said Deputy Director of Education, Pune Region, Minakshi Raut.
Around 11,400 candidates did not report at their respective colleges. While the admissions of 29 candidates were cancelled, around 36 candidates were rejected in the second round.
However, Raut said no extension has been given for the second round. The third round of CAP will proceed as per the schedule.
